I came across your site when researching my 1 Mary Ellen Smith, 2 Mary Smith, and 3 Elizabeth Smith, great grand mothers.
As far as I know they lived at Loaning Head, Bankend, Caerlaverock.
Does anyone know if any of the family still live there, or what living conditions were like in the 1840’s onward, or any information at all.
Are there any photo’s of the Churchyard showing MI’s.
I know it’s a long shot but thought it worth trying.
