If you have passed by the Caerlaverock War Memorial recently, you may have notice that it looks better – a lot better!

This is how it used to look:

We undertook several rounds of improvements, starting with the gravel area at the front, which was overgrown and dirty. (more info here) This was done by ourselves on a dry day, in readiness for the next stage.

After that, Steven Jackson kindly donated some granite blocks, which we humphed into place, narrowing avoiding hernias, which edges off the gravel area well, and matches the base of the Memorial. We also cut the hedge so it wasn’t encroaching on it.


We then commissioned KS Memorials to professionally clean the Memorial. Funds for this came from the donations from motorhome visitors to Castle Corner and the Quay.
