This weekend we finished Phase 1 of the War Memorial improvements planned. The gravel area at the front was overgrown, with a lot of dirt mixed in over the years. See below for photos. Other work will be done by ourselves soon, but we’re also intending to get professional cleaning services in to take care of the memorial itself. (This is a specialist job as the memorial can be easily damaged if not done properly.)

Much better! Fresh gravel put along the top too, and the stairs and surrounds weeded.
We have plans to edge off the gravel to stop dirt and weeds encroaching – Phase 2!
Probably been better to get memorial cleaned first then rest
The cleaning is not expected to have any impact on the gravel . The decision was taken to replace this whilst the weather was dry and it could be done without creating the mess that would have been made on a wet and muddy site.
