Eagle eyed Alison Robertson has sent us this fascinating video featuring a micro-moth caterpillar found in an oak leaf at Castle Wood. It’s amazing what you might see if you only care to look!
Alison suggests:

If you pick up a fallen leaf at this time of year and hold it up to the sun, sometimes a pale blotch on the leaf will be seen to contain a tiny micro-moth caterpillar. 
These caterpillars feed inside the leaf, consuming the tissue between the leaf’s upper and lower surfaces.  Here’s one from Castle Wood the other day (blurry because we’re seeing it through the leaf’s upper surface, which is still intact). 
I love to watch them nibbling away, totally safe from wind and rain that would otherwise wash them off.  It’ll pupate any day now and emerge next June as a moth just 3.5mm in length.
