Does anyone know anything that might be useful to John?

My name is John Adamson. I live in Sydney, Australia. I have been tracing my progenitors for some time, and have come to your site through a reference to Woodlands Farm.

The family is Adamson, and my research has taken me to Robert, born 1777 at Avenuehead, Comlongon. I can find no reference to “Avenuehead” anywhere. However, I have come across another Adamson line at Caerlaverock, with the same string of first names [John, Robert, James, Jane, Janet…] I have found 85 year old Jane Adamson living in Woodlands with 60 year old farmer William at the time of the 1841 census.

I don’t want to be a bother, but if there would be any pointers I could be given from local knowledge I would appreciate it immensely. I am obviously restricted to available internet resources, due to the tyranny of distance.
