NITH INSHORE RESCUE

WARDLAW CHALLENGE

From Steven Jackson:

On September 10th I will be walking 29.88 miles in 11/12 hours to raise funds for Nith Inshore Rescue.
https://www.nithrescue.org.uk/

To me I find that the Nith Inshore Rescue go unnoticed as an emergency service. Nith Inshore Rescue is an independent lifeboat search and rescue service always on call and wholly operated by a team of highly trained and professionally equipped volunteers. They protect and save lives, often in dangerous or difficult situations, and when life is lost do everything they can to recover loved ones. Many crew have busy day jobs, but when the pager goes off they arrive at the boathouse within minutes, ready to respond to any emergency in or near water.

I plan to walk a looped route from Shearington to the Caerlaverock Castle entrance and up to the Wardlaw ,over and down through woodlands and back. This will be no easy feat as I will be doing this 18 times. The route has an ascent of 252ft so over 18 laps equate to 4536ft. This is just higher than Ben Nevis.
As this is a challenge, I aim to complete this in a day starting at 6am with the hope to complete the challenge in 11/12 hours.

Like many charities, Nith Inshore Rescue have been affected by the cost of living crisis. As an independent lifeboat, they are not linked to the RNLI and must raise all their own funds in order to meet annual running costs.

If you would like to sponsor me here is my JustGiving link: https://www.justgiving.com/page/steven-jackson-1692125635531?utm_source=copyLink&utm_medium=one_page&utm_content=page/steven-jackson-1692125635531&utm_campaign=pfp-share&utm_term=396a0d32c7dd42589b70cf46379a89af

It would be great if other members of the public would like to join me throughout the day. This could be for 1 lap or as many as you would like. If you do hope to join for some laps, please consider also raising some funds too.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept under control on a lead and as we will be accessing private land, any mess must be bagged up and binned. If you do plan on joining the challenge, please be aware that in the trees at the top of the wardlaw there are active badger setts on the path , please be aware of these so to avoid any injuries. Also due to unpredictable Scottish weather, please do prepare for all four seasons.

Please donate anything you can to help support save lives.

THANKYOU
