Richard Clarke, South West Scotland Coastal Trail Development Officer who spoke at the most recent Caerlaverock Community Association meeting, has been in touch requesting information about our (Caerlaverock) section of the coastline.

Richard is looking for ideas from local people who can mark out potential routes (on the map – below) that would link along the coast, point out areas of interest that should be included in the trail, and/or any other useful information that might be useful to know.

The development of a coastal path along the North Solway Coast has long been mooted and is the missing link between coastal routes in Ayrshire and Cumbria.

A route would offer residents and visitors alike the opportunity to experience in full the region’s spectacular and varied coastline, while at the same time potentially generating economic, health and environmental benefits.
