Well it looks like the floodgates have opened, everybody has been unearthing some old photos, keep them coming!

Today it is Karl’s turn, thank you for this batch!

Karl writes: “I had heard about the shop at the bottom of Wellington/Shore St but this is the first close up photo I have seen. Apparently there was a pub on the other side of Wellington St, I think it was called The Ship, I would love to track down an image.”

Post Office and General Store.

Karl says “Wally Wright loaned me this old photo to copy a few weeks ago. I thought it might be of interest. It shows Keith, Wally and 2 of what must have been the original boy band, namely Con and Dec Cluskey of The Bachelors. They stayed regularly at The Nith when shooting in this area and Wally was their guide. By the style of clothing I reckon you must be looking at 70/80’s. Con and Dec are still performing by the way.”

The final photo from Karl: “It was taken at Glenhowan farm in June 1971 by Werner Kissling. From a couple of enquiries we think he was a farm helper at the time.
He certainly is an interesting looking character and a positive ID with perhaps any memories that people may have would be great.”
