Following a couple of recent phone scam posts on CCA website and fb page, (one from a local’s experience, the other from D&G Police), we have arranged for Community Police Constable Jac Irving to come and chat through things with Caerlaverock folk.

Saturday 23rd November 2019

at 10am

in the Nith Hotel Function Suite

Please let the hotel know if you need access at the upper level, it’s not a problem.

It will be both informative, with examples of the kind of techniques scammers use and an opportunity to ask questions in a supportive environment e.g.:

  • What are the latest scams?
  • What we can do to prevent it happening to us?
  • What do we do if we suspect this is a scam call?
  • What to do if it happens to us?
  • Who to get in touch with? etc

The only silly question is the question not asked! Take a note of things you’d like to know and bring them along!

If you know someone who would benefit from finding out a bit more, (or someone who may not be online), please do tell them about this session.

The more people are informed, the less chance the scammers have of catching someone out.

With many thanks to the The Nith Hotel who are very generously giving us the space despite it being a busy Saturday. And to PC Jac Irving for her time.
