Remembrance Sunday 10th November 2019

*** BEACON LIGHTING AT 4.20PM ***

Last year many of you attended Caerlaverock’s part in “Battle’s Over”, marking the 100th Anniversary of the end of The Great War, and in remembrance of those who gave their lives for their country in conflicts around the world since.

Our sadly missed friend Reverend David Logan took part in a special service, together with piper and trumpeter to mark the 100th Anniversary. There were poppies made, support for the wreaths at the memorial (standing the test of time well!) with a soldier silhouette created too, and a reading, during some very wet and windy weather! Thank you to everybody last year who took part.

It was decided that going forward, every year, Caerlaverock Community Association would continue to light the gas-powered beacon at Glencaple Quay End from sunset (4.20pm), keeping it lit throughout the night.

Apart from the lighting of the beacon, there are no other arrangements planned by the CCA. If anyone would like to organise their own arrangements at this time, they are very welcome to do so.

(A Reminder: Remembrance Sunday Service will be held at Caerlaverock Kirk on 10th November 2019, together with a meet beforehand at the War Memorial to pay respects for the fallen. This is normally shortly before 11am.)
