Snapshot of crime stats for Dumfries area from September 2023

• Youth admitted damaging items within Catherine Street Inclusive Park, Dumfries
• Over 1400 suspected Valium seized from male during a stop search near to High Street, Dumfries
• A male wanted for 117 offences with a total value of £280k worth of thefts across the UK was traced in Morrisons Dumfries, while committing another offence, by local officers.

Command Team

As from 2 October 2023 Acting Chief Superintendent John Cairns has taken over Local Commander post from Chief Superintendent Carol McGuire who has retired from the force.

ONGOING

• Anti-crime patrols ongoing, to prevent and detect crime particularly in relation to anti-social behaviour, youth disorder and under age drinking.  Please report any suspicious incidents at the time
• Intelligence sought in relation to drink drivers
• Intelligence sought in relation to  Drug dealers/cannabis cultivations
• Report any bogus caller type incidents 
• Police are running Operation Safety between the 25th September to 13th of October (an event working with partnership agencies delivering safety advice to school children)
• During month of October Police will be working with partnership agencies to carry out patrols in the run up to Bonfire night
• Police are investigating the theft of tools from a number of work vans in the region that may be connected.
