After a pretty wet winter on the allotments, Richard arrived with his tractor and plough last week to plough the two new plots. Exciting times!
Two of the original plots had proven to be too wet to work last year, and so these new plots have been created at the top end of the allotments. You may remember that there has already been some drainage work undertaken last autumn – this will take some time to begin making a difference. There are thoughts to install some further drainage too.
For your interest, we’re told the plough is a Harkness Plough, made at Ruthwell Smiddy, just along the road!

With thanks to Gerry for persuading Alison to take the photos to share as a record of the occasion!
