A few photos of the War Memorial with the ‘plaswood’ stands Norman Brown expertly made, to hold the wreaths in place.

The RPC BPI (British Plastics Industry) Factory in Dumfries, where plaswood has been manufactured since 1995, donated the plaswood materials, free of charge.

A big thank you for this kind donation!

Plaswood is a tough, durable and strong building material produced using 100% recycled polythene (diverting valuable waste from landfill). It is a realistic alternative to hardwood which, in the marine environment, has a lifespan of at least ten times the timber alternative. It can be fully recycled at the end of its use and will not leach any chemicals.

Plaswood does not rot or degrade with age, does not require any painting or chemical treatment prior to use and it will not crack or dry.  It is also more resistant to graffiti due to its surface, resistant to attacks by insects. and can easily be designed for use in conjunction with other materials.

RPC bpi recycled products is the largest polythene film recycler in Europe, which can recycle up to 70,000 tonnes of plastic waste each year.

They recycle polythene from commercial, industrial, packaging and agricultural sources, so let your farming friends know! And anyone else whose business produces polythene waste.

They also supply recycled sacks and bags. and construction membrane.

Every tonne of polythene the BPI recycles, saves 1.8 tonnes of crude oil, reducing energy usage by two thirds and sulphur dioxide emissions by one third.

We are very lucky to have a local facility on our doorstep where this waste gets made into a durable, sustainable and workable material!
