Final preparations for the Nithraid boat race are well on their way, with just 2 weeks to go! The organisers have announced that,
“As we make our final preparations for the race, we’re giving you one last opportunity to sign up and take part if you haven’t done so already.
The race begins at
10.30am
on 21st August
at Glencaple
where coastal rowers and sailboats will head for Mill Green in a battle to gain the fastest time possible!

‘Nithraid is a celebration of the town’s long relationship with its river, highlighting the way the Nith connected Dumfries to the rest of the world through trade, goods and sail power.

The 2021 race is planned to begin at Glencaple Slipway where teams of coastal rowers and sailing boats enter the river and will battle it out to gain the fastest time to from Glencaple to Mill Green in Dumfries and back.
Nithraid is created and produced by The Stove Network and is part of the groups mission to make creative opportunities for local people to be involved in the future of Dumfries.’
