With many thanks to Tom Langlands who thought this might be of interest to this group.

“Recently I was taking photographs in North Berwick and while wandering the graveyard of the old disused church there I came across this monument. The inscription reads:-

In Memory of
Mr James Dickson
Student in Divinity
A Native of
Caerlaverock,
DUMFRIES-SHIRE
who died here
April 10th 1818 aged
37 years.
HIS FRIENDS
In this place.
As a mark of their
high esteem
for his merits as
A TEACHER:
And as a tribute
of their affectionate
regard for his
CHARACTER:
Have erected this
MONUMENT”
