*** THANK YOU SO MUCH ! *** Although the initial amount to have the bench designed and built has been raised, we do still have possible installation costs to cover. We had thought about closing this campaign off, but if we keep it going for a while then everybody still has a chance to donate if they wish, with any extra going to David’s nonimated charity St Johns Scotland. 

In his last days, Jac Irving and Robert Copeland visited our sadly missed friend Reverend David Logan when he told them how he would like to be remembered after he passed. One of these is a customised bench in Glencaple, the plans for which were outlined by Jac at the recent Caerlaverock Community Association meeting.

The idea is to have a bench, situated at the Nith Inshore Rescue, looking out up the river towards Dumfries, made of a metal which will last longer and require much less maintanance than a wooden bench.

This view can be absolutely stunning all throughout the year, and a bench here could provide space for some reflection and pause. A great place to view the bore, watch Nith Raid, or various birds, otters, and even porpoises that have been spotted on the river. You might even catch a flash of a Kingfisher as the sun goes down. We can’t think of a better location to be honest. (Some of our favourite photos from this spot attached)

The actual design of it is still in hand, with custom elements relevant to David’s life and time in Ministry to be featured.

The Nith Inshore Rescue was a cause that David championed, and in his last days ticked off a bucket-list item – to be taken out on the boat!

The CCA has pledged £250 towards the proposed £750 cost of this bench, with the remainder open to anybody who may wish to contribute.

We know David’s time in Caerlaverock affected many, both in Kirk and Community, so we thought it would be a good idea to allow people to help contribute to the cost of this bench installation if they wished.
