David Grieve from Bankend has sent us lots of useful information for sharing via our Facebook page. Little did we know (until his wife Jackie got in touch) that he actually runs a non-profit making small voluntary organisation from his home. David founded ‘Over-Count Drugs Information Agency’ on August 23rd, 1993 and offers information, advice and help with any addiction or dependency to an over the counter drug or medicine.

Jackie told us that, ‘this month my husband David Grieve has been running his charity Over-Count for 25 years from our home in Bankend. He has helped local people and others in the UK and further afield by himself… without funding. A real local hero I think. He has won various awards and was torch bearer in Dumfries in the 2012 Olympics.
He’s got the wall in front of his computer covered with various awards which include Dumfries & Galloway Life 2015 “Volunteer of the Year”, “Big Hearted Scotland” Volunteer Award, “West-Sound Radio “Local Hero” etc.’
