For those who have been following the progress of this project, here is the latest communication on the Ladyfield Masterplan:

Following a comprehensive master planning process, led by The Crichton Trust, for the Ladyfield housing site in Dumfries, the masterplan has now been submitted to Dumfries and Galloway Council for consideration by the Economy and Resources Committee.

The Crichton Trust has worked with the local community, key stakeholders and Dumfries and Galloway Council to develop this strategic masterplan over the last year and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the time, energy and ideas that you generously shared with us as part of the process.

The level of community engagement has been remarkably high, and has, on the whole, been supportive and positive. We have listened to all of the concerns and ideas raised and our design team, led by Collective Architecture, have used this feedback and their professional expertise to help shape the masterplan.

We were keen to lead on this process, with advice, support, and input from a wide range of partners, to ensure that if the Ladyfield site is developed, it has the best possible outcomes for people, place and planet and to ensure that any future development would protect the unique heritage and the exceptional natural environment at Ladyfield.

For this reason, we set out to deliver an extensive and inclusive engagement process to ensure that a wide range of local voices would be heard. Our vision for Ladyfield has been strengthened by this process, thanks to the diversity of feedback, ideas and questions received and the many discussions and studies that have taken place.

By working with key local stakeholders, we aimed to maximise the benefits of new housing in the town, with a view to improving links between The Crichton Quarter and Dumfries town centre, protecting the natural environment and improving access to green spaces.
