Compass Child and Family Service aim to improve the quality of life of all children and young people under 18 years old with an acquired brain injury in Dumfries and Galloway.

In a bid to reduce the number of childhood brain injuries, they are offering a free helmet to every child who needs one in Dumfries and Galloway – though donations are very welcome and will be reinvested to buy more helmets. They are available in colours red, pink, blue or black.

The Holywood Trust, Halfords and the Compass Child and Family Service have worked together to purchase the helmets for children within Dumfries and Galloway who do not have a helmet. They say that “hopefully if a child is educated in the importance of helmets and has the information about brain injuries they will grow up with a better attitude to wearing one. We are very impressed with the children in the school talks as there aren’t many that say they still won’t wear a helmet.”
