Here’s a picture of a jellyfish I found this afternoon washed up on the mud at Glencaple after high tide. It’s a Dustbin-lid Jellyfish, aka Barrel Jellyfish, the UK’s largest species that can grow to 3 ft (90 cm) across. Fortunately this one was a tiddler at only 9 inches (23 cm) so I was able to fetch a spade and place it back in the river. It lives on plankton and is common in the Irish Sea.
