Thanks to David Buoy who has been in touch. Someone has dumped a load of slates on the Shore Road in Glencaple. He is rightly annoyed:

Some idiot has dumped 20 roof slates by the 30mph sign opposite Shorepark. If you have had any work carried out of know anyone who has please let me know so we can get the contractor back to clear up his mess.

While volunteers are working hard to keep Caerlaverock looking good, it doesn’t go down well when others see fit to dump their rubbish illegally.

We just posted about fly tipping recently. As a reminder – here’s that information again…

Fly tipping is a serious matter, not only is it illegal, with a £200 fixed penalty notice (or up to £40,000 fine and a prison sentence for more serious offences), it is immoral.

Dumfries and Galloway Council Safety Team is responsible for dealing with reports of fly tipping.

The officers can issue a fixed penalty notice of £200 and can arrange for the rubbish to be removed. More serious offences can be prosecuted through the courts with fines of up to £40,000 and a prison sentence.

To report fly tipping you can:

Email communitysafetyteam@dumgal.gov.uk or

Call 030 33 33 3000

You need to provide:

  • your contact details
  • the location of the fly tipping
  • how much rubbish has been dumped and what it is
  • the date and time you saw it being fly-tipped (if you know this)
  • description of the vehicle or people involved (if you know this)
