Have your say on the Draft Council Plan

We deliver local services to around 149,000 people living in the rural and urban areas of the region and our Council Plan sets out the approach we’re taking to ensure our services and activities deliver our ambitions over the next few years.

Following a programme of engagement, and involvement of all Elected Members in its development, a draft Council Plan will be presented to Full Council on 15 December.

The consultation will open on 20 December 2022 and close on
31 January 2023.

Once the draft plan is agreed by Members, staff, public and stakeholder consultation will then take place to seek views on the proposed Plan.

The consensus from Members was that there should be four priority themes in the new Plan:

  • Economy.
  • Travel, Connectivity and Infrastructure.
  • Education and Learning.
  • Health and Wellbeing.

The Organisational Development team is currently finalising your Staff Focus Group representatives and will soon communicate which of your colleagues will represent you.

Your Focus Group reps meet around four times a year, only virtually so far but they would like to meet face-to-face if possible, and will next meet in mid-January. Look out for the survey coming in December and for more information on how you can have your voice heard in regard to the draft Council Plan 2023–2028.

There will be an opportunity for everyone to have their views heard and shape the final Plan through various platforms, including questionnaires, which will be available online, in various Council buildings, and through citizen representative group events, which will be publicised nearer the time.
