It warmed the cockles of our hearts to receive this email from Karl Savege, with a photo from 2008… seems so long ago now somehow!

“I thought this was an interesting photo of the quay end taken about 2008. This was when up to about 6 cockle boats would land their catch onto 2 or 3 waiting lorries.

It was the last time the quay was used commercially. There is a rumour that the cockle beds are going to be opened again on a sustainable basis.”
