We’ve seen a fair few ’round the coast of Britain’ walkers pass through Caerlaverock, and Team Shipley Walk 2019  are on their way!

Martin and Maureen Shipley will arrive in Glencaple on Wednesday 15th of May, having walked around the Nith from New Abbey, and will head off for Annan on Thursday the 16th. Lets hope the weather warms up a wee bit for them…

Aiming to raise £3861 for Thrombosis UK by walking 3861 miles over 254 days, Martin, supported and accompanied by Maureen, set off from Robin Hoods Bay on the 14th of February 2019.  They trekked north around the coast of Scotland, anticlockwise (east to west) and are now in Dumfries and Galloway! An amazing achievement in itself!

Martin and Maureen share the reason for their walk on their JustGiving page:

“Thrombosis UK is a charity close to our hearts, as many of you know Dawn died in 2011 aged 37 leaving 3 beautiful girls.  This has been more than devastating for our family and our lives will never be the same.

Thrombosis is silent killer  and affects 1 in 4 people.  More awareness and research is needed. Thrombosis UK promote awareness and research.”

Thrombosis UK: We promote awareness, research & care to save lives & improve treatment

You can follow the Shipley’s journey through the Team Shipley Facebook Page.

Unfortunately we won’t be around, but if you could, do pop out to see them and extend a warm Caerlaverock welcome!
