We are working out if it is feasible to offer a community cinema in Caerlaverock, and have a test night lined up at The Barbour Hall on Monday 26th November. at 7pm. Yes, this Monday!

Come along, and Revd David Logan will present his (probably) favourite film – Sunshine on Leith. It’s a PG so suitable for any age and you’ll probably end up singing along.

Snacks and soft drinks will be available but you can bring your own. There is no charge for entry.

This will only work if people are willing to drag themselves away from their widescreen tellies and venture out to watch a film in the company of others, all enjoying (hopefully!) the same film.

We don’t have a cinema any more in Dumfries, so if we can set up a Community Cinema here, and people want to come along we have lots of possible venues (well, 4 we can think of just now) that we can do this in. Licences will be required, so we need to work out numbers of people who are interested. This is billed as a technical test, not an actual showing, although if you come along you can see the whole film while we test the equipment. The projector screen should be a decent size and the sound, well, let’s test it and see!

We’ve only chosen Monday because it let us call it Movie Monday, but it can be Flicks Friday or Cinema Saturday or Silver Screen Sunday. Actually, it was just a date we chose when nothing else was happening. We might be able to put on a Christmas Film too if there is enough people who want to come along.

So please tell your friends and family – Monday 26th – Barbour Hall. 7pm. See you there!
