David Gilbert, Chairperson of the Caerlaerock Community Association, has asked us to share this message with everyone:

“It is very difficult to know what to say after the year we have just experienced. Christmas will be very different for all of us and the latest rules make it even more difficult. Nonetheless I wish you and your families a safe, healthy and peaceful time. I hope that with the help of modern technology, or even the good old telephone, you will be in contact with all of your loved ones.

Sue and I decided weeks ago it was Christmas on our own this year. So I shall be about and hence if any of you are on your own and just need somebody to speak with do call me. Equally don’t forget that Caerlaverock Neighbours is there for us all.

Whilst I fear that 2021 will hold much of the same for a few months I remain optimistic that we shall see light at the end of the tunnel eventually. I am sure we shall continue to pull together, as we have throughout 2020, and make the New Year another that this community will reflect on with pride.

Caerlaverock Neighbours is the Facebook group which we originally set up as  Caerlaverock Community Isolation Support Group – for folk to ask for and offer help during the first Lockdown. This remains the main purpose of the group, but you can also use it to ask questions; for local recommendations; to request/ give away/ swap or sell ‘things’ and/ or generally stay in touch!
The helpline number is still live – 0800 048 7499 – so please do use it if you need shopping/ firewood/ prescription collecting etc. or just a friendly voice to talk with! Don’t be stuck, especially at Christmas time, there are lots of people here who are happy to help!
