The British Carriage Driving Society are holding a Carriage Driving Event on Sunday 5th June as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.
Caerlaverock Estate has provided the use of the Farm buildings at Bowhouse, where approximately ten carriages will be setting off the circular loop past Bankend, then turn down at the War Memorial down to the Glencaple, back along Shore road to Castle Point and back to the parking area.
Kirstin McBride tells us:
“We are starting departure from Bowhouse Farm at 12.30, slightly earlier and will leave at 3 minute intervals so will still all be at Caerlaverock Castle for 1pm.
All being well I should be in the lead driving my traditional country carriage which dates from 1912. The other carriages will be more modern with a mix of exercise carriages and some for competition (like Prince Philip used to do.)”
The carriages are expected to drive through Glencaple approx 2 to 2.30 pm – make sure you are in a prime spot to watch them come by!
