A very welcome message from Lynda at The Barbour Hall:

“Way back, pre-Covid, you may remember that we presented some film screenings at the Barbour Hall. This idea was spearheaded by the late Rev David Logan who arranged a very well attended screening of Sunshine on Leith.

From there we moved into the Driftwood Cinemas network and were mid-programme when Covid hit.

We’re now ready to get back to screenings and to do this we want to ask YOU for some help. We are looking for members of the community to join a Film Club Committee – a collection of as many people as are interested, to discuss what films we want to screen and help with the organisation and running of the screenings.

Our plan is to start screening again in October and through the winter.

If you’re interested to help, please send us an email to lyndafiddle@mac.com with your name and email address. We will then arrange a meeting at the hall late Aug / early Sept.

There is lots to learn and get involved in – from how to engage with film distributors to buy screening licences, to setting up projector and screen equipment, to running the door and assisting customers.
