Thank you to our Revd David Logan for this update from Caerlaverock Kirk. We did get it a while ago but have only just managed to catch up! Better late than never! :)
Caerlaverock Kirk Report
The end of 2018 and the start of 2019 a great time for the Kirk and the community of
Caerlaverock. Starting with the Country Kirk at Christmas on Christmas Eve, the Church
was packed and all who attended commented on how much they had enjoyed this
traditional and yet very laid back service. The Kirk Session has decided that it will go
ahead again this Christmas Eve.
The Charity Calendar was very successful and raised £1000 for local charities. We were
indebted to the Boathouse and Lady Clare for sponsoring our presentation evening.
We also had a very successful test showing of a a film at the Barbour Hall. Thanks to
Malcolm and Jane for their assistance and the loan of equipment. We are currently
exploring various avenue to make a Caerlaverock parish cinema a reality!
As Minister my strategy is simple. It is to involve the Community in the church and the
church in the community as much as possible.
We have a new signpost for the church so nobody can say they cannot find it! As well as
a new signpost we also are developing a website, the web address is simply
caerlaverock.church – we could not get Caerlaverock.kirk! So as you can see there is a lot
going on. I have attached a rolling calendar which will go on our website.
In the meantime I thank the CCA for its continued support of our ventures. Our church is
open by appointment and services are held every Sunday at 09:45
