Diana Dickson has been in touch with us, wondering if anybody could help her in any way regarding her grandfather with Caerlaverock connections:

“[He] was listed as being born at 4 Greenmill, Caerlaverock. He was born in 1906 to Joan Jardine, I am trying to trace back my family tree and looking for any information regarding this place or any Jardine’s who lived there.
My mum talked about her mum and dad living in Rosebank Cottage, Bankend, her little sister got killed on the road outside their house when she was 2 and a half years old.
Thank you”

Di also got in touch with us on our Facebook page, and a few folk have given her some great information. Is there anything you can add? As not everybody uses Facebook, there may be a wealth of untapped knowledge out there!

The Facebook post reads,

I found your page while searching for information on a place my grandfather was born. He was born at 4 Greenmill in 1906 and I was curious to know if this was still there and if anybody knew anything about this village. I have looked on the maps but cannot see Greenmill only a Greenhead?
I only have his mother’s name to go on and I am trying to find out more about his family and if they were from Caerlaverock or just stayed there for a while.

Thank you for getting in touch Di!
