Many people have been asking about the impact on access for local people, workplaces and schools during the upcoming British Cycling Championships.

Chris Woodness our Nith Ward Officer has been helping to arrange information and scheduling around the event.

He tells is “The final timings for road closure/openings are still being addressed through the council roads and infrastructure team and British Cycling, the roads into and out of Glencaple and around the rest of the route through will be affected on the 23rd June.

This will all be picked up through the Public Information Sessions.”

1600 – 1800: Businesses drop in
1900 – 2030: Residents presentation and Q&A

Chris has been in discussion with both Schools regarding access for drop of and pick ups, school bus scheduling. He has also been talking to local businesses working on plans to operate staff in and out – and is continuing to address the restrictions with other organisations and businesses in the area.

We will publish more information as we get it, and intend to help distribute leaflets from British Cycling to all residents so everyone is aware of what will be happening on the date.

For Dumfries, the time-trials kick off the championships on Thursday 23 June, starting and finishing at Crichton Estate in Dumfries.
