Ben Rogers from Leaf Surfboards in Bristol got in touch again having come up and surfed a wee bore on the River Nith back in April…
He was ‘blown away’ by the bore yesterday (11th September 2022) which took him all the way up to Kingholm Quay! So much so, he stayed over and caught it again today! [Footage via Caerlaverock Estate coming soon!].
We had been kayaking a fair way behind the bore, but didn’t manage to actually catch up with Ben until Kingholm Quay! Our top speed was 9.9mph which gives you an idea of how fast he was travelling!

Ben makes his own bespoke, custom surfboards from resin and polyester – this one incorporates a beautiful scarf (and a trademark leaf)! It is 5 1/2 years old and will have surfed hundreds of miles with Ben over the years!
Ben has surfed 9 bores in the UK and is a friend of French bore surfer, Antony “YEP” Colas who you may remember surfed a smaller bore on the Nith back in August 2017.
Well done to Ben’s partner Sarah for capturing this video [below] yesterday!

So glad everything aligned for you this time Ben! Enjoy the rest of your stay and safe journey home!
Haste ye back!
