Thank you to Gerry Donnelly for this information, come along the AGM and support your local hall by applying for “ordinary membership”.

THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Annual General Meeting takes place on Tuesday 27th September at 7pm. We would be delighted to see as many members of our community as possible at the meeting. At the Annual General Meeting:

  • The chairperson will give a report on the activities of the organisation over the past year
  • The treasurer will give a statement about the accounts
  • Trustees (board members) will be elected/re-elected
  • There will be a question and answer session where you can ask questions about any aspects of the work we have been doing.

A copy of our constitution and a summary of the funding application work we have done so far have been put on our website: www.barbourhall.co.uk

MEMBERSHIP OF THE BARBOUR MEMORIAL HALL SCIO

Everyone in the Caerlaverock area over the age of 16 is entitled to be a member of the Barbour Memorial Hall SCIO. Our charity is a two tier charity which has a Board of Trustees and a general membership of people from the community.

You can apply for membership by completing a simple form and the trustees will approve your application at their next meeting (unless there is an extraordinary reason why we shouldn’t.) We will be handing these out to those of you who are interested at all events held at the Hall from now on. We would really appreciate your membership and support. As a member you have some important powers:

  • Attend the Annual General Meeting
  • Appoint persons to serve on the Board of Trustees
  • Make changes to the constitution itself
  • Request a special members’ meeting to, for example, change the constitution or to ask the Board of Trustees to do something or take a particular step.

Your membership is also important to us because:

  • It demonstrates to funding bodies that we have the support of the community in what we are trying to achieve.
  • It gives you the opportunity to support events you are interested in without committing yourself long term to the SCIO.
  • It helps to bring the community closer together
