With many thanks to the eagle eyed Hilary Roberts who spotted this great news in Friday’s edition of the Dumfries and Galloway Standard! Thank you for alerting us to this Hilary – feels like a piece of ‘proper’ news!!

In brief, the text reads that this will be ‘rubber stamped’ at the next communities committee (on Tuesday 7th December 2021).

Temporary speed limits lasting 18 months will be introduced at each location to allow a quicker completion on the overall rollout (across D&G – towns as well as the remaining schools).

Work could begin on the street outside Caerlaverock Primary School as early as this month with all school areas to be completed within the next year, by December 2022 (including Carrutherstown, Collin, Springfield, Kirkgunzeon, Brydekirk, Shawhead, Hightae, Ae, Tundergarth, Applegarth and Hottsbridge).

Road Safety team leader Anthony Topping acknowledged the strong desire for more speed calming measures in the region, citing the regular contact from residents, community councils and members showing support for the introduction of these speed limits.
