*Please note amendment*
Thanks again to Vincent Muir who has alerted us to the correct time for Wilf’s funeral – 11am, not 1.30pm – as advertised in some locations.
Apologies for any confusion and inconvenience.
Please could you alert anyone who may not be aware of this update.
With thanks to Vincent Muir who let us know about the arrangements for Wilf Larson’s funeral, and to Tom Brown for telling us a little bit about his life as a Haaf Netter.
Wilf’s funeral will be at the graveside in St Michael’s Cemetery at 11am on the 13th of June 2018. All welcome to attend.
Wilf lived all his life at Kelton.
He was a Haaf Netter all his life and will be sadly missed by those who knew him.
Wilf has fished all his life on the Boreland stretch at Kelton and had a life times experience on the river. Many a salmon was caught in his kitchen at Carlin Place. He was the guy you went to if you wanted your Haaf Net repaired or altered.
Born in Dec 1954, he attended Brownhall school then Dumfries High. He worked for W. Haleys the builders at Troqueer for a number of years. Lately doing gardens and earning enough to run his car and supply his love of cigarettes.
Here is a wee video of Wilf, taken by Tom, just before he volunteered to demonstate his net knitting skills at the NNR 60th birthday celebrations in July 2017.
