THE VETERAN CAR CLUB OF GREAT BRITAIN (SCOTTISH SECTION)
A TOUR WILL START FROM GLENCAPLE QUAY (SPACE PERMITTING)
LEAVING AT ABOUT 9.45 A.M.
ON SATURDAY 12TH AND SUNDAY 13TH MAY
Amongst the cars (about a dozen plus some “officials“ in later cars) will be two superb and very original landaulets with very elaborate upholstery. I am sure the owners would be delighted to show the interiors but please bear mind that the cars are more than 100 years old One is the C.G.V. photographed at Beamish two weeks ago and the other a c1910 Napier.
The oldest car will, again, be a 1901 Progress from Hexham followed by a 1904 Century coming Fraserburgh (on trailers!) It is hoped a c1910 Vauxhall “Prince Henry” commonly described as the first sports car will also be putting in an appearance.
The Saturday run will be taking us past the castle to Powfoot for coffee and then to Lockerbie via Brydekirk, Eaglesfield, Waterbeck, Corrie and to the Somerton House Hotel for lunch.
On Sunday the run is via Irongray and a coffee stop near Shawhead then to Lochfoot where the larger cars will go via Milton, Kirkgunzeon, Southwick, Kirkbean to Carsethorn for lunch, while the smaller cars will go from Lochfoot via Beeswing and New Abbey to the lunch stop.
