In search of a wee bowl of soup today, we felt like lucky winners at WWT Caerlaverock as we watched the live camera feed – the two osprey chicks were being fed their lunch too! Tastey trout nonetheless!
We listened in awe as we found out all about the new female wanting a new nest above the canopy within a wing flap of the old nest, about migration routes, new technologies making this possible, and mused on how the chicks, just beginning to stand on their gangly legs and spread their feathering wings, would find their way to Africa by October!
The soup was delicious by the way – well worth the cycle!
A fantastic Lego dragonfly is also on display, highlighting that WWT Caerlaverock has been chosen as one of the British Dragonfly Society’s chosen ‘hot spots’ for watching dragonflies and damselflies in Scotland! You can buy a chart of native species to help with identification, and many other limited edition, natural history Lego kits to make a creature of your own!
