A wee while ago, as summer was starting to bloom, we spotted Michael Ransley coming into 
Glencaple with his horse and cart, and decided to go and have a wee chat.
Glencaple with his horse and cart, and decided to go and have a wee chat.A man with intriguing and fascinating stories, he was heading on his way south to the Appleby Fair at the start of June, with thoughts of looking out for a new horse (not to replace his current one!).
He was happy for us to take some photos which certainly highlight the different styles of travelling!
It was good to see so many people enjoying the views and Glencaple Quay on this beautiful day!
Michael, who lives in his cart all year round, told us how much he and his horses like it here – especially a good meal at the Nith Hotel. We’d like to stop and chat for longer next time!
