Have you thought about buying some Nith Inshore Rescue tote tickets for Christmas presents? It could be for example, a simple stocking-filler one week ‘lucky dip’ or a whole year worth of tickets!

Have a wee read below of how it works, everything you need to know and your options for buying/paying:
- The Nith Inshore Rescue Tote – registered under the Lottery (Scotland) Act – is a weekly draw in aid of the local Independent Lifeboat based in Glencaple. The tote raises around £3,500 a year for the lifeboat and represents a much appreciated regular source of income.
- Participants either buy a £1 Lucky Dip ticket pre-printed with 10 random pairs of numbers (yellow ticket) or choose their own ten pairs of numbers between 1 and 30 for a £1 stake (green ticket). There is no limit to the number of stakes per person per week.
- Tickets are on sale at The Boathouse Shop at Glencaple Quay.
- Regular supporters wishing to keep the same numbers each week can either sign up at the shop and pay their weekly contributions there or pay by Standing Order.
- The draw takes place each Monday at around 10 am in The Boathouse cafe, Glencaple. 60% of the week’s ticket sales go as prizes, 40% to the lifeboat.
- On draw day, two numbers are drawn by members of the public. Numbers only win as they are drawn, so if number 2 is drawn then number 27, if you have pair 27-2 you wouldn’t win. For this reason some people like to “reverse” their numbers and pay £2 a week so that they’ll win whatever order the numbers are drawn in.
- Weekly prize money is around £90 (it varies according to the number or Lucky Dip tickets sold). If more than one person has the winning pair of numbers, the prize money is shared.
- If there is no winner then the prize money is rolled over to the following week. There will be a maximum of three rollovers. If on the fourth draw there is still no winner then numbers will be drawn until the money is won.
- Supporters are requested to keep their payments up-to-date. The organisers recognise that occasionally payments cannot be made (perhaps through illness) so in these circumstances a grace period of a maximum of six weeks is permitted during which time the lifeboat subsidises that person’s payments. During this time the supporter’s numbers are still included in the weekly draw and prize money can be won. It is expected that supporters will then reimburse the lifeboat. It must be emphasised that the non-payment grace period is for exceptional circumstances only. Anyone owing more than 6 weeks will not be included in the draw. The organisers will do their utmost to remind late-payers but cannot be responsible for non-payment.
