Adam (NNR Caerlaverock) and Alison (county moth recorder) have sent us their records from the very successful moth event on Monday night. There were some weird and wonderful moths caught, happy faces despite the odd midgie and no nets caught in any bramble or gorse – bonus! All moths have been returned to where they were caught!
Best of all Alison managed to record a new species for the site… the aptly named Obscure Wainscot! (see pic).
Obscure Wainscot is the first record for VC72, all previous records coming from around Auchencairn Bay.
The moth list (click on link below) is from the two traps put out on the Sunday night and the ones they netted at the event. It’s worth a read for the wonderful moth names alone!
We are looking forward to the next event on 4th July, please do pass on this info to anyone who might be interested. (See the poster here)
