We thought you might be interested to read how the recently dissolved Community Council money was spent:

It was decided to build a temporary bus shelter for Kelton. It will be 8ft x 4 ft timber sectioned and will be sited at an appropriate point near the top of Carlin Road. It is being built by John Anderson Joinery and will be ready in the summer.

…Swestrans have promised that Kelton is 13th equal in the list for a council bus shelter, but this could be years away. When a Swestrans shelter is fitted, the timber bus shelter can be removed and used either as a bus shelter or a wooden shed, possibly for the school.

Over the past 6 months the Community Council has also funded the following:

A quarter of the £4800 cost to help with the moving of the trawler from Glencaple harbour to West Cumbria, making it possible for the owner to have repairs carried out in a suitable harbour with the right facilities.

Donations to Hutton Hall and Barbour Hall of £1000 each to cover various repairs and costs.

£1500 to cover the cost of a radar speed sign to be fitted at the Dumfries side of Bankend.

A donation of £1000 to Nith Inshore Rescue. They are fundraising to build an extension to the lifeboat shed.

£400 for the purchase of a new lawnmower for Bankend.

These are the main costs, there are others e.g. the poppy wreath for Remembrance Sunday, the cost of printing the newsletters, Christmas hampers for elderly residents and other sundry expenses, some listed here.
