Matters arising from last meeting on 31st May, 2017
The ‘passing place’ signs have now been fitted on the Blackshaw Road and the potholes have been marked for repair.
The work to the shop has now been started and stripping the building out is well forward.
The SNH 60th anniversary events on 15th July were a great success at the Barbour Hall. Thanks to everyone who took part.
The defibulator will be purchased shortly and will be fitted when or before the hospital moves to the Castle Douglas Road. It is hoped that we can have a first aid training night when it is fitted.
The ‘green waste’ dump at the south of Glencaple requires to be levelled. Hopefully this will be done with a tractor soon.
Hillary Roberts has volunteered to carry on with the local newsletter but, due to a recent bereavement, she has been unable to work on it. She will be pleased to have input from anyone with local news.
Treasurers report
The bank balance is £2821.04
Police report
The only incident locally is a report of a shed door in Wardlaw Drive being removed but nothing was taken.
This time of year is bad for doorstep crime so please be aware of people wanting to carry out unwarranted services.
Also be aware of phone calls from people pertaining to be from Microsoft. Never give card details.
Letters from the Spanish lottery telling you you have won a large amount of money are also a scam.
Remember when using social media not to tell everyone you are going on holiday. This gives rise to house breaking.
Be aware. When asked never give out your pin numbers.
In an emergency always dial 999.
For non-urgent crime, you can contact your local police office by telephoning 101 or you can email the police community email: NithsdaleCPT@scotland.pnn.police.uk
Remember don’t use a mobile phone when driving.
Fibre Broadband
Fibre broadband now available as there is a new cabinet in Bankend, Kelton and Glencaple. Customers have to contact their supplier and be insistent on this point with BT as we have several reports of local people who have not been able to be connected for one reason or another.
Any other business
Moving of 30mph speeding signs beyond Lifeboat house in Glencaple still ongoing.
Extending the speed limit in Kelton to Kelton Bank still ongoing.
Expenses to be paid to target Facebook promotions.
Sunday 24th September at 1pm. Barbecue at Caerlaverock Church. Tickets will be distributed within the Community. No charge.
Friday 10th November 11.00am. Community Remembrance Service at Caerlaverock Church. Children from Caerlaverock Primary will be attending along with anyone else who wishes to come.
Discussion regarding banning of sheep racing at Moffat.
Please, please don’t feed the seagulls. We do not want the same problems as Dumfries. Also remember not to leave any edible rubbish in bags which they can peck into.
