She and Chris Jackson spotted these two moths on Sunday afternoon between Glencaple and the Big Rock.  Alison said that ‘Even on a short walk like this we nearly always see something interesting.’

[main image] was sitting on a wild rose leaf, the Garden Tiger [below] on a stinging nettle (wild  rose and stinging nettle being the foodplants of their respective caterpillars – though Garden Tiger caterpillars eat other plants as well).

There’s so much to see if we care to take a closer look, in our lovely Caerlaverock!
