The Nith Inshore Rescue Tote – registered under the Lottery (Scotland) Act – is a weekly draw in aid of the local Independent Lifeboat based in Glencaple. 60% of the week’s ticket sales go to the winner(s), 40% to the lifeboat.

Participants choose ten pairs of numbers between 1 and 30 for a £1 stake (e.g. 3 and 28, 17 and 5). Alternatively, £1 Lucky Dip tickets are available, pre-printed with 10 random pairs of numbers. There is no limit to the number of stakes per person per week.

Tickets are on sale at The Boathouse shop on Glencaple Quay.

You can also pay the Tote by Standing Order – Click here to download the Standing Order document.

The draw takes place each Monday at around 10 am in The Boathouse café.  60% of the week’s ticket sales go as prizes, 40% to the lifeboat.

Two numbers are drawn by a member of the public or Boathouse staff. Numbers win only as they are drawn, so if number 2 is drawn then number 3, pair 3 – 2 doesn’t win.

Weekly prize money is around £90. If more than one person has the winning pair of numbers, the prize money is shared.

If there is no winner then the prize money is rolled over to the following week. There will be a maximum of three rollovers — ie prize money of circa £350. If on the fourth draw there is still no winner then numbers will be drawn until the money is won.

Regular supporters wishing to keep the same numbers each week can either a) sign up at the shop and pay their weekly contributions in cash or b) pay by Standing Order.

Supporters are requested to keep their payments up-to-date. The organisers recognise that occasionally payments cannot be made (perhaps through illness) so in these circumstances a 6-week grace period is permitted during which time the lifeboat subsidises that person’s payments. During this time the supporter’s numbers are still included in the weekly draw and prize money can be won. It is expected that supporters will reimburse the lifeboat. Anyone owing more than 6 weeks will not be included in the draw. The organisers will do their utmost to remind late-payers but cannot be responsible for non-payment. Supporters leaving the Tote are requested to ensure their payments are up-to-date.

The Tote raises around £3,000 a year for the lifeboat.
