Thank you to Lynne Sydes for sending us this update on Jan Thom’s fantastic Tea, Coffee and Cake Afternoon in aid of Marie Curie Nurses, and to Jan for organising a tremendously successful event for such a good cause – not only in raising money, but in bringing the community together!
“It was a lovely event and over 30 people came to enjoy a wonderful selection of home bakings, to catch up with friends and make new ones. The garden was looking lovely and many bravely walked down the steep grassy slope to the summer house at the bottom. Friends who couldn’t come baked and gave donations. Jan did a lot of preparation for the event and was a perfect host and her team of helpers kept the tea and coffee pots full! The amazing sum raised was 450 pounds”.
Jan added,
“The sun shone on Sunday and people sat in lots of parts of the house and garden. Friends baked, boiled kettles, made tea, ate cakes and talked, met new friends and hopefully had a pleasant afternoon remembering and appreciating friendship.”
CCA have added £50 to the fabulous collection.
