We worked with Kenny Bean on a two day workshop. We were trying to help him come up with some ideas for his finished artistic design that will be situated in the Caerlaverock Nature Reserve.
We used cameras, mirrors, torches and prisms to learn about reflection and refraction, learning about light from a scientific as well as creative aspect. We also learned about “ways of seeing” where we learned about the scientist Ivo Kohler and his upside down experiments. We even got to try out replicas of the upside down goggles.
We then went to Castle Corner to use the cameras to take close up photos of the woodland area using filters and kaleidoscopes on the cameras to see things from a new perspective.
We then brought out images back and uploaded them onto tablets and started editing them. We had a great time learning lots and loved playing about with the ultra violet light, light boxes and cameras.
