With the weather brightening up a bit and the nights becoming longer, some of us are thinking of two-wheeling round the area. Being on the Cycle Route 7, you’ll see a lot of passing cyclists, but there are many places to explore if you aren’t passing through.
(Our favourite route is direct to a scone and jam via a cup of tea at one of the cafes – the Caerlaverock WWT, Caerlaverock Castle or at Glencaple Quay.)
Curiously, whenever we put our bikes in the shed for the winter, they always come back out again with annoying things wrong with them. Flat tyres, gears grinding, squinty wheels and generally needing a bit of TLC all round.
This is where Brian from Solway Cycles comes in – a local (Bankend) cycle repairer. He’s Velotech qualified and a keen cyclist too.
What is very handy service for us locals living in the area is that he’ll pick up your bike at a time convenient to you, and bring it back when it’s all done: in shape, safety checked and serviced.
Have a look at his website for more info and services offered:
(If you don’t have a bike just now, he has a stock of pre-owned cycles at great prices, all fully checked, serviced and ready to roll.)
