As you’re probably aware, Caerlaverock Community Council voted unanimously against re-establishing under the Dumfries and Galloway Council at the last meeting in April 2016, due to the level of bureaucracy the Council required of volunteer community councillors. (The latest constitution is over 60 pages long, for example.)

Most of the funds have been generated by council members and had been distributed to local interests prior to the notice to dissolve.

The feeling of the members is that a simple ‘Association’ called Caerlaverock Community Association (CCA) would suffice for the needs of the parish.

It will be more flexible and will not be governed by the bureaucratic constraints of Dumfries and Galloway Council.

The Association will have a simple one page constitution and membership will be open to anyone who either lives, works or has an interest in Caerlaverock.

It is proposed that we meet 3 times a year, unless there is reason to meet more often.

We are going to hold our inaugural meeting:

in the Nith Hotel (upstairs)

on Wednesday 29th June

at 7,30pm.

All are welcome.

Please do come along and help build Caerlaverock Community Association into a strong organisation, representing the interests of the area, and in the interest of us all.
