Can anyone tell us a little bit about this beautiful place we often pass on our travels around Caerlaverock?
We were drawn by the lovely display of different daffodils… though on closer 
inspection, there appeared to be some kind of sandstone ‘remains’ (as well as some interesting fungi!).
It is right by the road, fenced off, full of undergrowth and trees, and intriguing!
It is on the B725 Shore Road, between Kenneth Bank and Castle Corner (not far from the Corner), on the left hand side of the road as you go down river towards it. See yellow arrows on maps below.

Thank you for your interest! We have found out that it is called ‘The Hag’, a house belonging to the Armstrong family. Their grandson planted all the daffies – which are often a clue (as are snowdrops) of a garden from long ago.
We shall have a look at old maps in the library archives, which will be fascinating!
