Dumfries and Galloway Transport Summit Report is now asking for public feedback.

Here is your opportunity to have a say about transport issues that affect you e.g. the cuts to our local bus service (in particular our loss of a Sunday service) as well as issues with road surface/ maintenance issues/ traffic management/ waterways/ rail service/ cycle routes/ road safety and any other areas you would like to see improvements to ‘provide a fairer opportunity to all those living and working in the region’…

With the publication of the draft transport summit report on 19 September 2016, [see here] Transport Scotland are now encouraging further comments from stakeholders across Dumfries & Galloway and the rest of Scotland, into the transport issues affecting the region.

In particular, they would like to hear about whether you agree or disagree with the issues raised during the summit, and they would also like to hear from you on the following questions:

  • What are the key transport challenges currently facing Dumfries & Galloway?
  • What transport solutions or interventions do you think could help bring greater prosperity to Dumfries & Galloway, while providing a fairer opportunity to all those living and working in the region?

And to extract a single quote from Transport Minister Humza Yousaf,

‘One of the other themes at the summit was remoteness in rural areas and the importance of buses to communities and the lifeline services they provide. In recognition of this, we will work with local authorities, including Dumfries & Galloway Council, as we bring forward the recently announced Transport Bill which will include measures to improve bus services across Scotland’.

Let them know this is something worth pursuing!
